This program was made for my mother so she could have a simple printable calendar that could keep her organized. It's capable of inputing information into dates and saving a month to a file that can later be opened. The window size was designed for 640x480 screens (like my mom's) and also to provide an easily printable environment.
How to use:
When you first open the program you are presented with the calendar window. It is automatically set to the current month and year. A quick look at the menu bar and you'll notice the , File, Edit, Action, and Help menus.
Under the menu you will find the following menu item:
About Mom's Calendar...
This menu item contains a brief statement on what the program was made for.
Under the File menu you will find the following menu items:
Open...
This menu item is used to open a saved Month file and will restore the calendar window to a month you have previously saved along with any data that might be in a date square. Please make sure you use this to open your files because double clicking them will not open the saved file. It will just launch the program.
Save...
This menu item is used to save the current month that you are working with including any data that you have entered into a date square.
Page Setup...
This menu item is used to choose various settings for printing.
Print...
This menu item is used to print the calendar window exactly as it appears on the monitor.
The first time you use the program to print it would be wise to visit page setup and change your page orientation. The program will remember your settings whenever you use it from that point on. (You can quit and restart the program and your printer settings will be remembered)
Quit
This menu item is used to exit the program.
Under the Edit menu you will find all the standard edit menu commands along with:
Context Flag Color
This menu item is used to choose what flag color will be used if you flag a date square from the contextual menu (control click).
Under the Action menu you will find the following menu items:
Change Date...
When you choose this menu item you are presented with a window with two editable fields (One for the month and one for the year) in it and a button labeled Change. Both fields require numbers to be entered. So to change the date from May 2001 to June 2001 you would enter "6" (minus quotes) in the month field and leave the year field alone and then press Change. Your calendar window will now represent the month of June in the year 2001. If you wish to leave the month where you currently have it just don't change the numbers and hit Change. Warning: When you change the date all informatin currently in the calendar window will be lost. So be sure to Save your month before changing the date if you don't want to lose any informatin you may have entered.
Edit Date Info...
When you choose this menu item you will be presented with a window that contains two edit fields and three buttons. The top edit field is where you endter the day you want to enter data into. Once a date is entered the edit field below will have all the current data entered automatically visible and ready to be edited. The buttons will be described below
Clear Date --> This button clears all info entered in the date selected by the user including any flag color.
Cancel --> This button cancels the request to enter info into a date, and leaves everything unchanged.
OK --> This button is used to finalize the process of entering info into a specific date.
Comment: You can also double click on a date that you want to edit. Double clicking will bring up the Edit Date Info screen.
Contextual Menu: You can control click in a square to bring up a contextual menu containing all the choices in the action menu. It also contains commands to flag or deflag a date. Using the Flag command from this menu uses the last color chosen in the Context Flag Color under the Edit Menu.
Edit Special...
When you choose this menu item you are presented with a window that allows some unique editing of dates. You can choose to have text entered every Sunday, The First Tuesday, Every other day between certain dates, or every day between certain dates.
Comment: This screen will only let you make one choice at a time.
Misc. Comments:
In the testing phase is the Holiday's Menu. Under this menu you will find the Test Holidays. At this moment it presents some static holidays. It will be expanded in the future to include more holidays.
Despite the bottom date squares appearing smaller because the window clips them the squares will print out just fine.
